As an expert on the subject of procrastination, being a uni student, I'd say that it's because tax statement preperation requires organisation of all documents. WoW is a good distraction from it.
Nothing to hide from once the taxes are completed.
It means you're human. It means you're paying Blizzard a charity fee since you're not consuming any time on their servers. It means you've found your chance to break free.
I've not played in about two weeks and I'm still paying... :-|
techdiversions - suggesting the pay as you go model? Is that worth it for Blizzard?
On the tax note, it's interesting to equate paying Blizzard with paying the IRS. At least with WoW there is the potential for entertainment, if not fun.
It is worth it to Blizzard, yes, just not in North America. Considering 8-million subscribers exist but only about 3-million pay the 15/mo. payment (aka North America). Asian countries do a pay as you go or have a very small monthly fee.
So, yes, it works for Blizzard in certain regions - but why offer us a pay as you go model when 3-million of us are paying monthly now and don't complain. :-)

Taxes are lame? :)
WoW sometimes doesn't seem appealing till I'm slaying some weird beasty or looting some treasure. Then things are much better.

Because after dealing with the IRS, everything that WOW can conjure up is a lesser evil regardless of how hard they try.

There is something deep and Freudian in all that. Or maybe a nice bout of Wii Golf will fix you up.

Deep in the heart of taxes. I'm doing Canadian taxes for '05 and '06. I'll trade you tax rates any time!
Hey Leo are all your feeds on your Jaiku page supposed to be active links? They aren't on Camino and Safari.
