I used to watch Tech TV almost every single day in high school and college. I'm so glad that I found your podcasts, Leo, because it hits that button that hadn't been hit since Comcast bought it and threw it in the dumpster. Bitches. :)
Thanks to wikipedia on that day:
1998 - India conducts three underground nuclear tests in Pokhran, including a thermonuclear device.
1998 - An election is held in the Philippines where actor Joseph Estrada emerged as winner for President.

I was there when it happened!!!I met the gang down in Atlanta,I got pica and everything.Whatever happened to michala? She was nice to look at.Is Leo ever going to write another Almanac?
I missed all of it. then one day perusing the pcmag site, I stumbled across a few dl.tv clips, and I started watching that show, then leo plugged all the twit stuff, and I was hooked from that moment on.
I was working insane hours for Legato Systems, Inc. at the time. Every night I would get home and watch Kate and Leo to unwind; dancing away the finshing credits was always fun to watch. Heck, I got the job I am in now from a product review Leo did, but that is another story.
Any chance of getting Kate on TWiT @ChiefTWit? Just to reminisce.
That was 9 years ago? Ahh, it seems like only yesterday when Leo, Pat and Kevin blew up that PC with military grade explosives. Way to wipe that drive! Good times.
Tech tv?Shoot go back farther to ZDTV that what it was all about, they did the show in a small basement looking room, much like the dl.tv set is now.It was only available on dishnetwork.I think it turned into tech tv when they got picked up by direct tv.
@deadhotbassist: the switch to techtv happened well after they were picked up by direct tv (which is how I watched the show). iirc, they updated the Screen Savers set around the time of the name change.
The first time I saw The Screensavers, I was hooked. When I read that I could get TechTV via Canadian satellite, I subscribed. I loved all those shows, CFH, ScreenSavers, TechNews. I recall the specials that SSavers used to have, like the one of filesharing. Those were the days.

Some how the Internet makes time stand still, and at the same time, makes it hard to remember what you did just yesterday...............

Leo? I meant Patrick, but they're pretty close, only seperated by a stand up desk.

So basically three weeks after I got married, TechTV came into existence. I guess '98 was a very good year...

And how well did that fare on said recent marriage???
2 years, 6 months ago by deadhotbassist
Who, me? Couldn't be more happily married, what can I say?

Screen Savers was the best.

It's weird though, I somehow feel a part of that even if it was working for Call For Help 2.0 in Canada. Wow 9 years, man I'm old. LOL
