Far be it from me to complain--I'm grateful for every episode of TWiT--but these lost weeks are killing me! (OK, I'm exaggerating a little, but you understand... TWiT is like crack for geeks.).
Hey, Leo, thanks for the update. Maybe Amhas has the right idea for alternate TWIT panel members, to fill in on a regular basis, maybe every fourth episode? How about having 2 regular listeners maybe every eighth episode? Brainstorming, need to stop(brain going into self preservation mode.)............
Leo when are you going to start publishing Jumping Monkeys? I enjoyed watching Megan from her previous life. I'm looking forward to hearing about her new life!
As for TWIT, maybe you need to accept some applications for some "Jaiku TWITs" to join you from time to time as stand-ins or to fill out a cast. If it was you, a regular TWIT or two and a "Jaiku TWIT" then I bet it could be a great show!
I have to agree with Amhas. You have an army of friends within the industry Leo - I dont think its so vital that its the same people every time. I mean, the two vital cogs are you and Dvorak; if John isnt on the show thats the only time it doesnt feel like a real TWiT, but there have been plenty of excellent shows without him.
Andy's Skype was redirected to another computer without his knowledge so he missed my repeated calls. We did get a cast together for a very wild romp. This is why everyone has to stop using Twitter and start using Jaiku immediately.
People who post to both Twitter and Jaiku are commitment-phobes. I really hate people who sign up for a Jaiku account then use the RSS feeds to post their Tweets. That's missing the whole point of Jaiku: the comminity. It's phoning it in.
Hey leo, I took off my twitter RSS feed a long time ago. AND i post to both. I have some really cool people on twitter that would not switch, nor should they have to. Twitter is a different community. Oh by the way, Jott.com , is mostly a GTD app for your voice to your GTD Inbox. The Big In Japan app egorcast justs hacks it, which is fun.
sniffles Leo got me started on both Twitter and Jaiku. I can't handle the choices. Twitku is now my start page. If Leo suggests another mini-blog, TwitKant will become my new start page...
can't send jaiku's from the mobile phone yet for us silly americans with crappy phone service. So I can only update to twitter via phone. Waiting on the jaiku shortcode. And yes both are fun, can't commit, they are both fun.
I post to both daily and while it feels a little weird, I don't mind doing it. I always think eventually I'll drop twitter...but I just can't seem to let go.
Dropped mine!!!Phoning it in,isn't that part of web 2.0,it's easier to interact across the world with talkshoe,gizmo...phoning it in?Sorry....coudn't resist..
I continued using twitter because i was hooked on the PC client, I am trying Jay-Q for Jaiku right now, does anyone have any other client recommendations for me?
c'mon leo. i know ya got well-founded issues with twitter, but i don't think people are on both because of commitment phobia. It's having a different set of friends on both. It's the exact same sitch in IM world and that's why there's trillian, meebo, gaim, etc. For T&J, TwitKu.com makes it managable...
It's a bit harsh to criticize people for using both services. I do have some contacts who are only on one service or the other, so what am I supposed to do, leave some people "in the dark" because they don't use the "right" service? The Twitter feed helps me maintain the conversation over both services. Other methods like the Quicksilver script Twaiku, or the TwitKu.com site help this also. I admit I like Jaiku much more because it handles conversations better. But Twitter still has value for me because of a bunch of my friends still post a lot of stuff there. I will grant that people who only post to Jaiku via Twitter feeds are "cheating" though!
I don't mind people using both services. But I really wish people wouldn't stick their twitter in here (or rather, I wish I could stop it showing up on the Explore page along with every other 'feed') [Confession/Advert: I just built this feature into the new version of the iGoogle gadget :-D]
True. I was thinking that if I only use stuff like Twaiku or the TwitKu site to post to both Twitter and Jaiku, people only reading one or the other would none be the wiser. :D Perhaps I will remove my Twitter feed sometime, but yes, as an alternative, people can unsubscribe to certain feeds from their Jaiku contacts. Good point, ChristianBurns.
Leo,
Not sure if you've ever tried posting to Jaiku from cingular via a text message, but it doesn't work yet. This is the main reason I still am using twitter. So there's an actual reason to continue using twitter until Jaiku gets a US short code. Geeze.
@ScottE22: Good point. I won't be surprised if Jaiku eventually decides to prohibit twitter feeds. It's gotta be a bandwidth hog for them. there's really no need anywayz with the multi-protocol apps out now.
@ScottE22: I see your point. I still don't like blanket statements like that. Different strokes, different folks. The guys at Jaiku from the Net at Night podcast didn't seem to have any hate against Twitter, so I don't see why they can't co-exist. Live and let live, right?
well ya I guess I could post to jaiku using sms, and paying like 20+ cents for an international msg.....(I don't think so). And I do think that peoples only usage of jaiku is to feed their twitter feed is stupid. I post on both. It just kinda strikes me on which I want to post on..but for now via phone; twitter is the only way...

I don't know Leo. Perhaps it's time to start creating a second string of TWiT folk? Maybe get Steve Gibson and a few others to fill the panel.

Hey Leo, like I said before, if you ever need someone to help fill in a spot on TWiT, you know I'm definitely there to help.
Your Faithful, Available and Teachable Snowball is more than willing to step up to the TWiT plate. LOL

On Andy Ihnatko's twitter, he said he's in his podcasting shorts waiting to be skyped.

web2.0 = phoning it in. Seriously, though, both are too fun to just commit to one!

http://www.egorcast.com/ would let you update by voice to both, but I really cant wait for the Jaiku US shortcode.

cool jaiku feature, you can unsubscribe from an imported feed of a friend. This way I can remove twitter feeds but maintain jaiku frindships
