    You gatta love those guys! Many of my non-technical friends are helping "contribute" to that ISP via their own routers!

    My fav ISP is <blank> , the ISP that thinks hiding an SSID is effective security.

    You could also ask your buddy Steve Gibson who has the easiest turnkey fast wep cracker these days. I checked out the "aircrack suite" he mentioned on a security now episode, but the setup for use was a bit convoluted. Oh wait, we can't have our fav TWIT doing anything illegal, can we..........:)

    I leave my Linksys router open and I also have a FON router. I use a different router for file access so it is ok and the password is changed on my Linksys router.

    I have comcast, so I can't legally attach the FON router I have. {sigh}

    "pushing people sharing bandwidth"?? What does it mean to "push people". Do you mean "punish"?

    2 years, 5 months ago by merlyn

  • IdoNotes

    I would go with punish unless pushing them is a punishment

    Yeah, thanks to Linksys and my neighbor. BTW, I'm not a total freeloader, are you still collecting my donation to Twit. Signed up for a recurring $20 over a year maybe two years ago, but don't know for sure ...Marion Carroll

    well, it's not illegal if the ISP itself says it's ok. so that doesn't make sense.

    "The ISP aren't saying it's ok, tey are saying nothing." contradicts "But even ISP providers (Neuf and Free) are playing the game of pushing people sharing bandwidth." (once you explained "pushing"). So we're losing something in the translation, I fear. Oh well. I can't tell if you mean the ISP wants people to share (which would make it legal) or doesn't want people to share.
