I had an older iBook, but it was faulty and the logic board kept blowing up... Apple wasn't any help in replacing it either (even after the sixth or seventh time), so it left a bad taste in my mouth. I'll admit it though, I'm tempted to get another Mac to give them one more chance...
I personally thought the iBooks were kinda crappy to begin with. The MacBook and MacBook Pro are better quality. They have been around for a while and most bugs have already been worked out.
It still just takes up too much disk space to put Windows on my laptop (MacBook Pro) so I just use crossover for the only Windows app I run with is IE 7 for testing web sites. It is not as slick as Parallels though.
I just bought a Acer laptop that had everything I needed (15.4" widescreen mainly) and I would have to spend $AU1000 extra to even get that screen size on an Apple. Sure the Apple had slightly higher specs (just) but not enough to make we want to spend that extra money. With Windows/Linux laptops I have so many more brands and choices to choose from. On the PC side I build my own cant build you own OSX machine (easily). Yes I do own a mac mini but its basically a "podcast" server for my Nano.
Who needs a PC? Those of us who don't want to pay twice as much for the same hardware just to get a little "apple" on the box. Die Mac bigots, die! (just kidding)
Seriously, the Mac hardware is nice, but I have no need for the Apple OS. Windows does everything I need and a comparable Windows based computer is much less expensive.

Leo you're totally right. PCs are no longer necessary. Long live the Macintel.

I bought Parellels before I left on my trip. Still haven't had the time to install and play with.

Parallels is aweomse...great product. I might be able to completely leave Windows behind now.
