You have to be careful with Facebook. Responding to a poke or message lets someone see your profile for a month.

I've never used facebook...is that a bad thing that they can see your profile?

It's actually no that big of a deal if you are smart about it. You messaged me and I can see some of your profile but not your contact info or your wall, only your resume and your friends (which I could see anyway).

ross: idea on facebook is that not everyone can see your drunken pictures. therefore has lots of fine-grained privacy settings, site even warns you before poking a stranger.

A lot of people get scared just because it shows your real name..this'll really get them

I've just started using Facebook and I'm really impressed with the various privacy settings. You can actually adjust what a poke will expose.

Thanks Leo. I've been using Facebook for over two years now and I never knew that about the poke feature. I won't poke you after all :)

I've had a Facebook profile a short while. I'm just now experimenting with all this Web 2.0 stuff. But I still don't know what a "poke" is or how it works. Can someone clue me in?
