I use F = (C * 2) - (.1 * C * 2) + 32. It sounds strange, but I can almost do it in my head. (double - 1/10 of doubled result, then add 32. eg. 30 * 2 - .6 = 59.4 + 32 = 91.4) and I am a dork.
Leo needs to come visit us in Florida. According to one table I found, 30C = 86F. 86?! That's hot? Today it is 93F/34C with 51% humidity so heat index (opposite of wind chill) is 104F. It really isn't the heat. It is the humidity. Walk outside and you start to drip.

It's 30+ near Portland -- I love the metric system!

For an approximate Fahrenheit temp. double and add 30. 30 x 2 = 60 + 30 = 90 F.

I just use metric and have the minority do the math.

Oops. That should have been 30 * 2 - 6 = 54 + 32 = 86.

Sorry, no sympathy from me ... our patio thermometer, in the shade in Florida, is reading 105 ... that's F, as in F*ing hot.

you silly Americans and your 'Fahrenheit', everyone knows the proper way of measuring temperature is degrees.

I completely agree. In the 70s, the US tried to convert to metric, but gave up after a few years.

I recall that change ... we were living in Canada and laughing at the U.S. Was great having it there ... then we had to go back to non-meteric :(
