It is an unfortunate event. Wouldn't have been such a big deal except for that Leo had used the name before as himself, and then when he publicly announced his departure this person jumped on the opportunity. Sad to see someone take advantage of a situation like that.
He did try very hard to convince the world that he was the real Leo. I think Leo was totally in the right to react as he did. definetheline even wrote a remark on his own twitter account stating that he felt that it was Leo returning to twitter.

As for Definetheline, to say he did it as a joke just proves what a odd sense of humor he has, he is the same guy who has been sending out a TinyURL to people that automatically adds all there Twitter followers as friends, hence why Amber MacArthur how has 1600+ friends on there. He is also the same guy who on Talkshoe last night for Net@Night posted 10 minutes before the show started that he had just spoken to Amber on Skype and she had told him that Leo was not doing the show that night due to a computer problems.

Leo gained my respect when I was in high school, I was a big fan of Tech TV before it got sold. I used to check out the site at every moment even when I had free time in school. I could no longer go to the site due to the nature of the content and ads for some of their programs including one I believe was called "Sex 2.0". I wrote into Leo with my complaints and concerns.
Leo actually took the time to respond personally. You know what a lift that was a for a high school computer geek to hear back from an idol of his that he watched on TV everyday? I have had the up most respect for him ever since.
Palazzo Jaiku's house rules: Fakesters in good taste rock but impersonating other real users isn't allowed, it offends our <a href="http://jaiku.com/terms">Terms of Use</a> ("You must not harass, intimidate or impersonate other Jaiku users"). As for the commenting, it would bore our brains out if everyone just hummed in agreement. That said, if you disagree, please do it in a cool way; do not harass.

The fact that there are many blog posts and much discussion about Leo's jump to Jaiku either says a lot about his power and influence or perhaps about how much we all love the new platform of Twittering/Jaikuing.
I've been a big fan of Leo & the Gang for a long time as well, but I think sometimes you have to crack the whip every now and then I guess? It seems too often fans blindly follow and agree with Leo & the Gang without conflict... and I think it's healthy to see a debate going on rather than the lemming effect.

I have to say this thread makes for fascinating reading - and is one reason Jaiku rules. It's got elements of a transitory message board, too. Very cool. And very web 2.0. It's all about the conversation.
Oh and I do apologize for the harsh words that started this thread. Definetheline apologized and sent me the password to the account. I told him to keep posting as leolaporte on Twitter, but to camp it up more so that people know it's a parody. Example: "My hairpiece itches. That's the last time I let them use badger fur." or "I will never take ads on Twit. I mean I will. I mean I won't. Well probably not. Or maybe."
@ChiefTWiT: I've changed my avatar to a pretty unicorn and want to make peace. I do agree the message board feature of Jaiku is very interesting. Only downside is if it gets really nasty like Digg can get...
