I live in a very busy hub here in Vancouver, known as "The Drive", and I never have had any problem. Might have something to do with the fact that the Telus hub is only two blocks away, on top of the hill.
Who's fault is that then ? Who runs the telephone system there? Dont they have a decent regulator pushing the companies? Here in uk british telecom dragged their feet for years until regulator forced them to speed up and open it up to competition.
As long as you don't have Rogers, internet in Canada is great. I essentially have the same connection you have with DSL Extreme. 5mbps down, 800kbps up for $35/month with no Rogers style throttling/caps.
its funny My neice works for Rogers customer service on-line support and swears that they are told there is no throttling. I have Aliant at home and Eastlink (cable provider) at work. Both have good speeds. If Rogers suck so bad why not try the dsl from the telephone company

Totally true. Even here in New West, just a couple of blocks from a Telus hub ours won't stay up reliably. :(

I'm out in suburban Vancouver ( Surrey ) and my Telus DSL is very reliable .... 2.8 mbps down and 450 kbps up, not screaming but adequate.
